When I learned, I learned mostly online and a lot of trial and error (still
do that!). I also got a beginner's book for handy reference. It is called
simply, "PHP". I don't have it to hand, so can't give you more info. I had
a quick look on Amazon, they've got lots of PHP books there, including a
"Dummies" book which should be quite good. Just search the books for "PHP".
