Line breaks in email  (See more user questions)

Hi

Interesting indeed.

I have seem problems with line length before, but the opposite problem, i.e.
lines getting broken when they are not meant to, when they have exceeded the
line length for the email program (a very long line).

In the samples you sent me, the line length wasn't especially long or short,
pretty normal for a form.

Curious indeed. I will keep this email in my inbox, should anything occur
to me.

When you were getting the broken ones, did the header/source look ok or did
that show the lines without the breaks?

At this point, and after more than a bit of experimentation, I'm inclined to
call the matter a "Outlook bug".

The key differentiator appears to be the length of the individual line.
Observe, in the attached PDF, that by shortening the length of both the
several Key values and the "submitted date" field, I was able to make the
issue go away.

This suggests, at least to me, that Outlook is ignoring (or, perhaps, "not
seeing") the Cr/Lf values if the line is greater than a certain length.

Most curious.

In MS Outlook, try looking at the header/source of the message, see if it
looks ok there. That could be a big clue!

I'm a wee bit reluctant to try and replicate this after seeing the emails
apparently ok.

Here's a PDF of one of the messages that we're receiving. The email client
here in the office is MS Outlook. I'll try sending a message to myself at
home, where I use Mozilla Thunderbird.
